March Empties

I like doing empties posts, so here’s the one for March. There are a lot of things, so I won’t describe every single thing (unless you want me to! Let me know in the comments). I’ll hit anything I feel strongly about.

I tend to forget to keep face mask packets, but I usually do a couple a week. I love sheet masks. I grabbed a few from Bath & Body Works and they were OK. Nothing to write home about. The pineapple one was from Target and I couldn’t get it to stay on my face. It just didn’t stay put. That was really annoying, and I won’t buy it again (I bought 3 and all did that).

The L’Oreal blush is one of the True Match blushes in Precious Peach. It’s one of the most flattering blushes I’ve ever used, and I’ve been through 2. I will absolutely buy it again.

Lush salted Coconut scrub is one of the few things my husband uses, and he loves it. I love it too. Every season change, my skin goes from normal, to so dry it cracks and bleeds even with lotion on. It sucks. This scrub helps get rid of the rough and dead skin and leaves my hands so so soft.

I used up another L’Oreal Lash Paradise, it’s my third, I believe. I love how my lashes look. The ONLY problem I have with it is that it dries out after about 5 weeks. This sucks. BUT it’s so good that I don’t even care. I buy it with a coupon at Target and it’s maybe $6.

Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach lip gloss is my ride or die. Seriously. I’ve bought 4 so far since last year.

Pacifica Rollerball perfume in Island Vanilla. I’ve gone through 3 of these, maybe more in the past couple years. I love the lotion as well, and I wear them a lot during the summer.

Boots Botanics tinted lip balm is okay. Feels nice on the lips.

The Alba Hawaiian deep conditioning hair mask is amazing and smells delicious. My daughters are swimmers, and being in the pool 4 days a week kills their hair, and they use thins every swim day. Their hair is so soft!

I cut open the Mor lotion in Rosa Noir so I could get every last bit. I love that brand so much, but their Candied Vanilla is the absolute best! I wish it was cheaper. I can’t spend $36 on a lotion, no matter how lovely it is.

The Pixi primer is nice, it’s shimmery though, FYI in case that isn’t your thing. I like how moisturizing it feels.

The Pacifica Sea Foam face wash reminds me of the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea one. I like it, and it’s gentle and that huge tube lasts forever. I like it just fine, but I’m trying something else this month. I’ll keep you posted.

And that’s it, guys. Let me know if you preferred that I mentioned every product, or if you don’t mind the highlights version.

Honest Beauty Magic Balm

I’ve been looking for a good tinted and and natural lip balm. I have a Pacifica one I like, and a couple of Burt’s Bees ones, but none are really what I want. I just want a non-shimmery tinted balm. I really wanted to check out the Perricone MD No Lipstick Lipstick, but my Ulta doesn’t carry it and I just can’t justify a tinted lip balm for that price without seeing it in person. In fact the Perricone lady at Ulta showed me her tinted Chaptstick brand one. She said it’s similar and way cheaper. I did pick up the coral one and it’s way more pigmented than I expected, but I want to stick with more natural products.

I saw the Honest Beauty Magic Balm at Target last week, and I had a $3 off coupon, so I figured what the heck.

It’s really nice. But not tinted. It’s got a nice shine to it, and I’ve used it on my lips, my cheeks, my undereyes both over and under makeup, and it feels amazing. I prefer it over my crow’s feet about halfway through the day and it doesn’t mess up my makeup at all. Some reviews said you can use it on cuticles and elbows, etc, but yeah no. It’s fairly expensive at $18 for a small pot. I’m not using that on my elbows.

It smells divine, and instantly melts into your skin, it’s not sticky or thick at all. I love it, but I can’t give it a glowing recommendation specifically because of the price.

I’ll keep you posted if I find a dupe. Even though it’s half the price of Perricone MD’s No Lipstick Lipstick, or RMS Beauty’s Lip 2 Cheek balm, it’s still a splurge to me. You can grab a Smith’s Rosebud Salve for $6 instead, and even though it’s thicker, it’ll do if you don’t want to spend $18.

Review/Dupe Too Faced

I was sent a NickaK NY shimmer eyeliner in a Glam Bag maybe 2 years ago. I used it up! IMG_2262

I bought another one that same summer, and it’s like $2.99 so that’s awesome! It’s a beautiful shimmery blue liquid eyeliner. I went to grab one this summer and…they no longer make it *crying emoji*

I have spent a month trying to find a dupe. I bought a L’Oreal felt tip pen eyeliner-the color is perfect, but it’s matte. I bought a Nyx glittery liquid eyeliner where it’s very sparkly, but the color is almost silver.

Stila nope, Urban Decay nope, Tarte nope. Too Faced…maybe?

The Glitter Pop! eyeliner is perfect in color, and it’s glittery instead of shimmery, but I don’t care since I wanna sparkle! But…it’s a peel off liner. Huh?

Yup, it peels off. I think it feels tight. Like I have glue along my lashline. It’s annoying, but as I absolutely LOVE the color and look, I’ll deal. However…it can start peeling up and lifting throughout the day. I put it over the L’Oreal liner and it lifted almost immediately, so don’t top other liners with it. If I wear it on its own, I still have lifting but it happens more throughout the day. I can handle an uncomfortable liner, but the lifting? Who wants their liner to lift up and crack in the middle of the day? I wear makeup for about 12 hours or more, so I don’t want my eyeliner coming off after lunch.

I’m going to give it another week to see if I can make it work, if not, I’ll be returning it.

So I’m back to square one. Does anyone have a pretty and sparkly blue liquid liner for me?

February Empties

I liked the last “Empties” post so much, that I saved everything from February so we can do it again!

I have dry skin, so you’ll see a couple of lotions, Bath & Body Works and the Coach lotion that came with my perfume. I will absolutely repurchase the Bath & Body lotion, but that Coach one was pretty light and didn’t do much for me.

There’s a meteorite scrub I got in my Ipsy bagĀ

A Shea Moisture mud mask that I really liked, but I think I prefer the sensitive skin one.

There’s an Eos lip balm (My family goes through so many of those it’s ridiculous)

My favorite face moisturizer Pacifica Dreamy Youth. I probably go through one of those every couple of months, so you’ll see this one pop up often.

My Real Techniques sponge which I’ve already replaced because I love it.

A Boots No. 7 serum that I liked, but it didn’t work with my moisturizer.

A Too Faced lip gloss I got as a freebie forever ago. I didn’t care for it. It was sticky and didn’t last very long.

The next lip gloss is an amazing find. It’s a Revlon lip gloss in Super Natural that’s a fantastic dupe for Urban Decay’s Nooner.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye that I like when I go full coverage.

The Juara plum and avocado mask is pretty nice. It’s an overnight mask, and I love the extra moisture.

There’s a Lisa Frank lip balm that was actually my toddler’s but somehow ended up in my photo LOL

The tiny little eyebrow pencil is an Anastasia Beverly Hills pencil and it’s a fantastic product, but that’s the teeniest tiniest little sample I’ve ever received of anything.

Benefit’s Roller Lash which I like, and I’ve bought a few times, but while it gives me plenty of length and curl, I really love a good thickening mascara, and this doesn’t do that.

Some floss, because we all should floss. It’s an expanding floss I got at the dentist.

And last but not least, an Elizabeth Mott eyeshadow called Pop Goes the Shadow in Champagne. This is a brand I love. I have a beautiful blush in peachy-pink, and my favorite bronzer Whatup Beaches. The quality of the products is great and consistent. I never see anyone talk about this brand, though. I think it deserves better.

Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream

If you’d like to join Influenster, click here

In my search for a new favorite night cream, I’ve come across so many. But I haven’t LOVED any of them. I know, I know, you guys say, “But you love Pacifica so much, why not use theirs?” Well, they don’t have one, not really. They have day/night creams, but I have such dry skin that I prefer a much thicker and heavier moisturizer at night. I use one of the Pacifica overnight masks as my night cream for the moment. Or at least, I did…

I was sent a full-size jar of Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream through Influenster, and I was pretty shocked. This brand is billed as “celebrity skin care.” Celebrity? I’m thinking something along the lines of Charlotte Tilbury and her Magic Cream. Well, I like this better (don’t tell Charlotte! LOL)

This is a brand Marilyn Monroe used to use, but back then you had to be seen in person in his New York store/office and Erno Laszlo became the dermatologist of the stars. Well, if it’s good enough for Marilyn, ammirite?

My skin loves this. A lot.

My husband does not…at $115, it’s pricey guys. I’ve been using it for a month, and I feel like I’m not even a quarter of the way through. If I can make it last maybe 4 months (it’s a pretty great size jar, and I don’t feel like I need to use a lot of it, which is amazing!), I’m hoping to convince the hubby that $115 a couple times a year isn’t that much more than spending $20-$30 a month on a drugstore night cream.

In the meantime, once a week or so I do still use my Pacifica overnight mask on top of it, so I’m not ready to let that go. Maybe I should to a full review of that for you guys too.

Luna Dupe?

I am fast becoming a huge Pacifica Beauty fangirl, and with their latest products, it’s not hard to see why.

I love face oils, and I’ve been so bummed out that Pacifica didn’t have one. And then it’s as if they heard my prayers!

This is $16, but it’s available at Target, which frequently has 5-15% off on Cartwheel, and Ulta sells Pacifica Beauty which is often buy one get one 50% off. The price point is awesome.

But is it a dupe for Sunday Riley’s Luna?

It’s not an exact dupe. But it’s close. Probably the only “drugstore dupe” that I’ve found. I think Herbavore’s Lapis Facial oil was the closest I’d found up until now, and that’s $72, which yes, is cheaper than Luna’s hefty $105 price tag, but still pretty expensive. Pacifica’s Super Flower Rapid Response Oil is the first drugstore version I’ve ever seen.

I like the way it feels on, I like that for the under $20 price point, I don’t feel as if I need to hoard every single drop like I did with Luna, and I don’t mind adding a bit extra to my neck, lips, and decolletage. I dropped and broke my Luna (tears, all the tears), and this bottle is plastic instead of glass, so I’m probably one of the few who prefers that.

So, the quick version is that this is as close a dupe to Sunday Riley’s Luna Sleeping Night Oil as I’ve ever seen. If you have any other dupes for this, feel free to share in the comments.

I wanted to share my empties this month, and I realized I kind of have a lot.

Trader Joe’s has stepped up their game and I found some fun and moisturizing body butters there. I used up Pumpkin but I’ve already recycled the container, so today, you get Mango.

Acure Brightening face scrub is next up, and I grabbed that one at Target in my quest for a perfect face scrub. I like it, but it left my skin a wee bit red. I think it’s the aloe (I’m allergic to aloe. I can handle it in small amounts in a product, but I have to really watch ingredients).

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Deep Conditioning hair mask. I bought this for my daughters for after swim practice, but I found it in my shower and was shocked at how amazing it smells and how nice my hair felt afterwards.

Trader Joe’s Blueberry scrub. It smells like blueberry muffins and is so gentle. I think I’ll repurchase it. And it’s only $5 so I’m happy with that price point!

Native deodorant (you can read my review here) but I changed from the coconut scent to the Lavender Rosemary. I still really like this deodorant. Come summer, I may switch back, but we’ll see.

Pacifica Happy Hydro Mist is a light and refreshing spray. I love to use it throughout the day, especially if it’s hot out. It’s safe to use over makeup, however I don’t feel like it holds my makeup like a setting spray would. I just use it to refresh my face.

Lush Karma Kream. Wow, this is a lotion that i won’t be repurchasing but it is only because of the scent. I love Charity Pot and Dream Cream. Both are much more my style. Karma Kream smells like patchouli and I really don’t like patchouli. However, if that scent appeals to you, the lotion itself is amazing.

Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter is one I’ve bought several times already, and will continue to repurchase. I love the feel and the scent of Pacifica Body Butters.

Pacifica Kale Brighten Enzymatic Overhaul Face Mask is one of the few Pacifica products I haven’t liked. Part of it is the scent; it’s very green. The other part is that it leaves my skin sensitive and red but I think that’s the aloe.

Moroccanoil Hair Treatment isn’t my favorite, but it’s great for when I straighten my hair and want it to be glossy and silky. I’ve tried to incorporate it into my normal hair routine, but it just weighs down my curls.

Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Face serum. This has been my go-to face oil for a couple of years now, and while I’ve tried many other oils, some very high-end, I keep coming back to this one.

Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands is a dupe for the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita except it’s creamier (and cheaper!). I’ve already repurchased this one.

Pacifica Wake Up Beautiful Overnight Mask is basically my night cream now. I have terribly dry skin and I haven’t found a night cream I like as much as my Boots Botanics one that I think was discontinued. I used this while I was hunting down a new night cream since it’s what I had in my medicine cabinet and I’ve just kept using it. I love it!
