Luna Dupe?

I am fast becoming a huge Pacifica Beauty fangirl, and with their latest products, it’s not hard to see why.

I love face oils, and I’ve been so bummed out that Pacifica didn’t have one. And then it’s as if they heard my prayers!

This is $16, but it’s available at Target, which frequently has 5-15% off on Cartwheel, and Ulta sells Pacifica Beauty which is often buy one get one 50% off. The price point is awesome.

But is it a dupe for Sunday Riley’s Luna?

It’s not an exact dupe. But it’s close. Probably the only “drugstore dupe” that I’ve found. I think Herbavore’s Lapis Facial oil was the closest I’d found up until now, and that’s $72, which yes, is cheaper than Luna’s hefty $105 price tag, but still pretty expensive. Pacifica’s Super Flower Rapid Response Oil is the first drugstore version I’ve ever seen.

I like the way it feels on, I like that for the under $20 price point, I don’t feel as if I need to hoard every single drop like I did with Luna, and I don’t mind adding a bit extra to my neck, lips, and decolletage. I dropped and broke my Luna (tears, all the tears), and this bottle is plastic instead of glass, so I’m probably one of the few who prefers that.

So, the quick version is that this is as close a dupe to Sunday Riley’s Luna Sleeping Night Oil as I’ve ever seen. If you have any other dupes for this, feel free to share in the comments.

I wanted to share my empties this month, and I realized I kind of have a lot.

Trader Joe’s has stepped up their game and I found some fun and moisturizing body butters there. I used up Pumpkin but I’ve already recycled the container, so today, you get Mango.

Acure Brightening face scrub is next up, and I grabbed that one at Target in my quest for a perfect face scrub. I like it, but it left my skin a wee bit red. I think it’s the aloe (I’m allergic to aloe. I can handle it in small amounts in a product, but I have to really watch ingredients).

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Deep Conditioning hair mask. I bought this for my daughters for after swim practice, but I found it in my shower and was shocked at how amazing it smells and how nice my hair felt afterwards.

Trader Joe’s Blueberry scrub. It smells like blueberry muffins and is so gentle. I think I’ll repurchase it. And it’s only $5 so I’m happy with that price point!

Native deodorant (you can read my review here) but I changed from the coconut scent to the Lavender Rosemary. I still really like this deodorant. Come summer, I may switch back, but we’ll see.

Pacifica Happy Hydro Mist is a light and refreshing spray. I love to use it throughout the day, especially if it’s hot out. It’s safe to use over makeup, however I don’t feel like it holds my makeup like a setting spray would. I just use it to refresh my face.

Lush Karma Kream. Wow, this is a lotion that i won’t be repurchasing but it is only because of the scent. I love Charity Pot and Dream Cream. Both are much more my style. Karma Kream smells like patchouli and I really don’t like patchouli. However, if that scent appeals to you, the lotion itself is amazing.

Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter is one I’ve bought several times already, and will continue to repurchase. I love the feel and the scent of Pacifica Body Butters.

Pacifica Kale Brighten Enzymatic Overhaul Face Mask is one of the few Pacifica products I haven’t liked. Part of it is the scent; it’s very green. The other part is that it leaves my skin sensitive and red but I think that’s the aloe.

Moroccanoil Hair Treatment isn’t my favorite, but it’s great for when I straighten my hair and want it to be glossy and silky. I’ve tried to incorporate it into my normal hair routine, but it just weighs down my curls.

Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Face serum. This has been my go-to face oil for a couple of years now, and while I’ve tried many other oils, some very high-end, I keep coming back to this one.

Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands is a dupe for the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita except it’s creamier (and cheaper!). I’ve already repurchased this one.

Pacifica Wake Up Beautiful Overnight Mask is basically my night cream now. I have terribly dry skin and I haven’t found a night cream I like as much as my Boots Botanics one that I think was discontinued. I used this while I was hunting down a new night cream since it’s what I had in my medicine cabinet and I’ve just kept using it. I love it!

Whatup Beaches!

I got this tiny little bronzer sample in an Ipsy bag back in the spring. After one use I was in love. The Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches! bronzer is matte one that works so beautifully as either a contour, or just to warm up your complexion.

However, if you want a glowy, gorgeous look, use it as a crease color, with a highlighter on your lid. This little bronzer is the shade I used almost every day for a couple of months, because it is just the most beautiful and perfect transition shade.

I’ve already used it up completely (not hard since it’s tiny and I used it daily), and I’ve ordered the full-size bronzer. My current bronzer is Too Faced Chocolate Soleil and I’ll be ditching it the second my new Whatup Beaches comes in.

I’ve tried using the Too Faced bronzer in my crease and the shade is wrong. I think I’ll stop contouring with it too, as it’s too dark for my skin in the winter.

I’ve been all over Youtube and Pinterest, and I just don’t see this brand get a whole lot of love. Elizabeth Mott has fabulous blushes too. I have a peachy-pink one and it’s my favorite. It’s similar to Nars Orgasm, but it’s less peach and a bit more golden. It’s just so incredibly flattering that I figure you guys ought to know about it!

I’ll link to the blush and the bronzer to make it easy to check it out (*whispers* although it’s cheaper on Amazon)

Tarte Namaste Dupe

I love a good liquid lipstick, I mean who doesn’t? But one of my favorites, Tarte’s Tarteist Lip Paint in Namaste, dried out *cries*

I know there are dupes out there, but I’m trying to shop my stash more and more. So I decided to pull out every liquid lipstick I have that looked similar.

*Pictured in order are across the top, Tarteist Lip Paint in Namaste, then from Left to Right: Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp, the Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes, Tarteist Lip Paint in Birthday Suit, Tarteist Lip Paint in Delish, Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm, Nyx Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim , and Stila Stay All Day in Perla.

Here’s a more close up pic. I think the second from the left is closest. That one’s The Balm’s Meet Matte Hughes

What do you think? Which is the closest to my fave Namaste?

Are there any other products that could be a dupe? Let me know in the comments.

Review: Maskcara Beauty HAC

Today let’s talk about Maskcara Beauty HAC (highlight and contour). I have terrible undereye circles. I would love to blame having children, but I think it’s genetic (thanks Dad!). I’ve found the only way to truly cover them is by using a lot of product. I hate heavy concealer, so I usually go for a brightening concealer.  Baking and setting my undereye concealer almost always leaves creases, no matter how I do it, or which products I use. BUT the Maskcara Beauty HAC set is surprisingly amazing, and doesn’t need setting.

I’ll link for you guys here Britta’s Maskcara Beauties

I say surprisingly because the first set I got was a gift-just the highlight and contour shades.

They come in these cute little tins, you slide the lid off, and the trays stick right into the palette. I have one in Sea Glass, and as you see, it fits in my makeup bag, so it definitely fits in my purse.

These shades are Walnut for the contour shade, and Aura for the highlight shade (quick note-in this brand, highlight is not the same as your typical highlighter. This is your concealer and foundation in one).

Having a thick foundation, or a heavy foundation doesn’t work for me. My skin is so sensitive that even some BB creams will make me break out. So here I am, in my thirties, wishing that having wrinkles and pimples at the same time would be illegal. This brings me to the Maskcara Beauty compact.

This product can be used as full coverage, or as a sheer coverage (it’s super buildable). I use it where I need it, rather than all over my face, because that’s what works for me.

This is the set I bought, since my summer skin is a shade darker than my winter shade, next to my original set. The blush can be used as a lip color as well, and the far right shade is a shimmery and beautiful illuminator.

FullSizeRender (2) Palette 1:  Walnut, Aura  Palette 2: Amber, Stone, Pink Grapefruit, Honey

And here, you can see my bare face, vs. Maskcara Beauty. The difference is subtle enough that I still feel like myself, but it evens out my skin tone without needing a color corrector, concealer, or heavy foundation. Everything blends easily, and looks natural. I’ve used the highlighter under my browbone, on my eyelids, above my cheekbones, my cupid’s bow, and the tip of my nose. Each of these shades really is a multi-tasker.

I bought my palette from Britta’s Maskcara Beauties  and there are several new types of palettes and even eyeshadows that fit right in next to your highlighter and contour shades as well.

My final verdict is that I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how nice my skin looks without looking like I caked on a ton of concealer and foundation. It’s even a more natural look that the last BB cream I used. I have yet to break out from it, and that’s huge for me!

I wind up doing my makeup in the car a lot since my kids need to be everywhere at once it seems. I use this palette only and my normal mascara and I’m done in less than 10 minutes.

I’ve already repurchased the highlight shade, and I think that this is the easiest and most natural looking highlight and contour I’ve seen yet.

Let me know what you think, if you wind up trying it out, or if you’ve already tried it. I do believe that you get the palette for free if you purchase all 4 products.

Review: Lipsense Plus Discount!

I don’t know if any of you guys have seen this, but several of my friends on Facebook sell Lipsense. It’s a long-wearing lip color and gloss combo. My sister swears by it, but  I wasn’t sold on it yet.

Well, she bought me the shade Aussie Rose, a beautiful golden pink. And for some reason, the center of my lips kept wearing off! I was so disappointed! Then I realized I needed the gloss. Talk about a duh moment! It really does make a difference.

I bought the Glossy Gloss, and it feels so amazing on your lips!

I’ve watched some videos and have some new tips up my sleeve, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys!

1: Exfoliate your lips beforehand. I use this recipe for a lip scrub, but if you aren’t in the mood to make one, there are plenty of other options. Heck, you can just brush your lips with your toothbrush if you want (do it gently!).

2: Shake it!

3: Stretch your lips wide while you apply. You’ll look silly, but your lips will look so much better!

4: They suggest 3 coats. You’d better believe I was loaded up that lip wand with product! BUT the thinner the coat, the better they layer. And trust me, if you get a couple colors, you can layer these babies into different colors! So 2 shades can give you a couple different color mixing options!

Here’s who I bought my Lipsense from. Her name is Sonya and she’s super friendly and very helpful. If you buy anything from her, mention this blog post and she’ll give you 10% off your order!!

I’m ordering a peach shade next as my birthday present to myself: shade Luv It. I’m in the pool a lot, and I want a lip color I don’t ever have to worry about. I hate being at the beach, or the waterpark with my lipstick wearing off and looking crazy.

Here are some pictures from the same day. The first two are right after I applied my makeup and I have 2 slightly different angles so you can see the sheen the gloss gives it. This color is called Beige Champagne. It’s a perfect nude for me. Pink Champagne is a similar color, but you guessed it! A pinky nude instead.

And this is 8 hours or so later. You can  see that it still looks fabulous. I ate with it on, had way too much coffee, ran errands, you name it, I did it! I applied more gloss twice. I never reapplied the color.
