Today let’s talk about Maskcara Beauty HAC (highlight and contour). I have terrible undereye circles. I would love to blame having children, but I think it’s genetic (thanks Dad!). I’ve found the only way to truly cover them is by using a lot of product. I hate heavy concealer, so I usually go for a brightening concealer. Baking and setting my undereye concealer almost always leaves creases, no matter how I do it, or which products I use. BUT the Maskcara Beauty HAC set is surprisingly amazing, and doesn’t need setting.
I’ll link for you guys here Britta’s Maskcara Beauties
I say surprisingly because the first set I got was a gift-just the highlight and contour shades.
They come in these cute little tins, you slide the lid off, and the trays stick right into the palette. I have one in Sea Glass, and as you see, it fits in my makeup bag, so it definitely fits in my purse.
These shades are Walnut for the contour shade, and Aura for the highlight shade (quick note-in this brand, highlight is not the same as your typical highlighter. This is your concealer and foundation in one).
Having a thick foundation, or a heavy foundation doesn’t work for me. My skin is so sensitive that even some BB creams will make me break out. So here I am, in my thirties, wishing that having wrinkles and pimples at the same time would be illegal. This brings me to the Maskcara Beauty compact.
This product can be used as full coverage, or as a sheer coverage (it’s super buildable). I use it where I need it, rather than all over my face, because that’s what works for me.
This is the set I bought, since my summer skin is a shade darker than my winter shade, next to my original set. The blush can be used as a lip color as well, and the far right shade is a shimmery and beautiful illuminator.
Palette 1: Walnut, Aura Palette 2: Amber, Stone, Pink Grapefruit, Honey
And here, you can see my bare face, vs. Maskcara Beauty. The difference is subtle enough that I still feel like myself, but it evens out my skin tone without needing a color corrector, concealer, or heavy foundation. Everything blends easily, and looks natural. I’ve used the highlighter under my browbone, on my eyelids, above my cheekbones, my cupid’s bow, and the tip of my nose. Each of these shades really is a multi-tasker.
I bought my palette from Britta’s Maskcara Beauties and there are several new types of palettes and even eyeshadows that fit right in next to your highlighter and contour shades as well.
My final verdict is that I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how nice my skin looks without looking like I caked on a ton of concealer and foundation. It’s even a more natural look that the last BB cream I used. I have yet to break out from it, and that’s huge for me!
I wind up doing my makeup in the car a lot since my kids need to be everywhere at once it seems. I use this palette only and my normal mascara and I’m done in less than 10 minutes.
I’ve already repurchased the highlight shade, and I think that this is the easiest and most natural looking highlight and contour I’ve seen yet.
Let me know what you think, if you wind up trying it out, or if you’ve already tried it. I do believe that you get the palette for free if you purchase all 4 products.
