Whatup Beaches!

I got this tiny little bronzer sample in an Ipsy bag back in the spring. After one use I was in love. The Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches! bronzer is matte one that works so beautifully as either a contour, or just to warm up your complexion.

However, if you want a glowy, gorgeous look, use it as a crease color, with a highlighter on your lid. This little bronzer is the shade I used almost every day for a couple of months, because it is just the most beautiful and perfect transition shade.

I’ve already used it up completely (not hard since it’s tiny and I used it daily), and I’ve ordered the full-size bronzer. My current bronzer is Too Faced Chocolate Soleil and I’ll be ditching it the second my new Whatup Beaches comes in.

I’ve tried using the Too Faced bronzer in my crease and the shade is wrong. I think I’ll stop contouring with it too, as it’s too dark for my skin in the winter.

I’ve been all over Youtube and Pinterest, and I just don’t see this brand get a whole lot of love. Elizabeth Mott has fabulous blushes too. I have a peachy-pink one and it’s my favorite. It’s similar to Nars Orgasm, but it’s less peach and a bit more golden. It’s just so incredibly flattering that I figure you guys ought to know about it!

I’ll link to the blush and the bronzer to make it easy to check it out (*whispers* although it’s cheaper on Amazon)

Tarte Namaste Dupe

I love a good liquid lipstick, I mean who doesn’t? But one of my favorites, Tarte’s Tarteist Lip Paint in Namaste, dried out *cries*

I know there are dupes out there, but I’m trying to shop my stash more and more. So I decided to pull out every liquid lipstick I have that looked similar.

*Pictured in order are across the top, Tarteist Lip Paint in Namaste, then from Left to Right: Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp, the Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes, Tarteist Lip Paint in Birthday Suit, Tarteist Lip Paint in Delish, Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm, Nyx Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim , and Stila Stay All Day in Perla.

Here’s a more close up pic. I think the second from the left is closest. That one’s The Balm’s Meet Matte Hughes

What do you think? Which is the closest to my fave Namaste?

Are there any other products that could be a dupe? Let me know in the comments.

Review: Maskcara Beauty HAC

Today let’s talk about Maskcara Beauty HAC (highlight and contour). I have terrible undereye circles. I would love to blame having children, but I think it’s genetic (thanks Dad!). I’ve found the only way to truly cover them is by using a lot of product. I hate heavy concealer, so I usually go for a brightening concealer.  Baking and setting my undereye concealer almost always leaves creases, no matter how I do it, or which products I use. BUT the Maskcara Beauty HAC set is surprisingly amazing, and doesn’t need setting.

I’ll link for you guys here Britta’s Maskcara Beauties

I say surprisingly because the first set I got was a gift-just the highlight and contour shades.

They come in these cute little tins, you slide the lid off, and the trays stick right into the palette. I have one in Sea Glass, and as you see, it fits in my makeup bag, so it definitely fits in my purse.

These shades are Walnut for the contour shade, and Aura for the highlight shade (quick note-in this brand, highlight is not the same as your typical highlighter. This is your concealer and foundation in one).

Having a thick foundation, or a heavy foundation doesn’t work for me. My skin is so sensitive that even some BB creams will make me break out. So here I am, in my thirties, wishing that having wrinkles and pimples at the same time would be illegal. This brings me to the Maskcara Beauty compact.

This product can be used as full coverage, or as a sheer coverage (it’s super buildable). I use it where I need it, rather than all over my face, because that’s what works for me.

This is the set I bought, since my summer skin is a shade darker than my winter shade, next to my original set. The blush can be used as a lip color as well, and the far right shade is a shimmery and beautiful illuminator.

And here, you can see my bare face, vs. Maskcara Beauty. The difference is subtle enough that I still feel like myself, but it evens out my skin tone without needing a color corrector, concealer, or heavy foundation. Everything blends easily, and looks natural. I’ve used the highlighter under my browbone, on my eyelids, above my cheekbones, my cupid’s bow, and the tip of my nose. Each of these shades really is a multi-tasker.

I bought my palette from Britta’s Maskcara Beauties  and there are several new types of palettes and even eyeshadows that fit right in next to your highlighter and contour shades as well.

My final verdict is that I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how nice my skin looks without looking like I caked on a ton of concealer and foundation. It’s even a more natural look that the last BB cream I used. I have yet to break out from it, and that’s huge for me!

I wind up doing my makeup in the car a lot since my kids need to be everywhere at once it seems. I use this palette only and my normal mascara and I’m done in less than 10 minutes.

I’ve already repurchased the highlight shade, and I think that this is the easiest and most natural looking highlight and contour I’ve seen yet.

Let me know what you think, if you wind up trying it out, or if you’ve already tried it. I do believe that you get the palette for free if you purchase all 4 products.

Review: Lipsense Plus Discount!

I don’t know if any of you guys have seen this, but several of my friends on Facebook sell Lipsense. It’s a long-wearing lip color and gloss combo. My sister swears by it, but  I wasn’t sold on it yet.

Well, she bought me the shade Aussie Rose, a beautiful golden pink. And for some reason, the center of my lips kept wearing off! I was so disappointed! Then I realized I needed the gloss. Talk about a duh moment! It really does make a difference.

I bought the Glossy Gloss, and it feels so amazing on your lips!

I’ve watched some videos and have some new tips up my sleeve, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys!

1: Exfoliate your lips beforehand. I use this recipe for a lip scrub, but if you aren’t in the mood to make one, there are plenty of other options. Heck, you can just brush your lips with your toothbrush if you want (do it gently!).

2: Shake it!

3: Stretch your lips wide while you apply. You’ll look silly, but your lips will look so much better!

4: They suggest 3 coats. You’d better believe I was loaded up that lip wand with product! BUT the thinner the coat, the better they layer. And trust me, if you get a couple colors, you can layer these babies into different colors! So 2 shades can give you a couple different color mixing options!

Here’s who I bought my Lipsense from. Her name is Sonya and she’s super friendly and very helpful. If you buy anything from her, mention this blog post and she’ll give you 10% off your order!!

I’m ordering a peach shade next as my birthday present to myself: shade Luv It. I’m in the pool a lot, and I want a lip color I don’t ever have to worry about. I hate being at the beach, or the waterpark with my lipstick wearing off and looking crazy.

Here are some pictures from the same day. The first two are right after I applied my makeup and I have 2 slightly different angles so you can see the sheen the gloss gives it. This color is called Beige Champagne. It’s a perfect nude for me. Pink Champagne is a similar color, but you guessed it! A pinky nude instead.

And this is 8 hours or so later. You can  see that it still looks fabulous. I ate with it on, had way too much coffee, ran errands, you name it, I did it! I applied more gloss twice. I never reapplied the color.

First Impressions: Native Deoderant

My sister has been trying to get me to go with a natural deodorant for years, but I really like my Secret Clinical Strength. I live in the desert, and with temps soaring above 115 regularly, I need something strong.

A few beauty blogger friends of mine have told me about Lavanila, which I do like, and the scent is amazing! But, it really can’t handle the sweat of someone who lives in the heat. I spent 2 hours at the DMV with no air conditioning! That’s right, it broke that day. I was sweaty, and honestly didn’t smell, but it did not last the rest of the day. By the end of my Costco trip, I was stinky, like maybe it had worn off.

I reapplied twice.

So next up is Native. A friend suggested this, and in a weird twist of fate, my sister texted me she’d just ordered a new deodorant she’d found called Native. I was like OMG I just bought it too!

If you use this link you can get a free travel size deodorant too!

FullSizeRender (1)

So here we are, a week into it, and so far so good. It doesn’t smell as good as the Lavanila, but it holds up to my sweat. Now just a huge reminder, this is NOT an antiperspirant. You will sweat.

But I don’t smell, so there’s that! I don’t know if I’ll be able to stick with it, I really hate feeling sweaty, but I guess as long as no one else knows, and I don’t smell, that I can deal with it.

Their customer service is awesome, the price is cheaper than Secret Clinical Strength, and it smells better too. I’m on a subscription plan, so I’ll keep you guys posted.
