Gwen Stefani Palette

So I finally did it. I bought the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette. I’m a huge Urban Decay fan, but the Gwen palette didn’t really speak to me. I mean, I have plenty of champagne shades, and it seems to be full of neutrals. I have 3 different Naked palettes, how much different would this one be?

Boy oh boy, was I wrong. This palette is fabulous! The money is worth the shade Anaheim alone!  The other Bookish Beauty Girls told me I need this, and ladies, you were so right! This palette has been used every single day since I bought it!

I’m not sure how much longer it’ll only be $25, but for now, it’s only $25!! I bought one for my sister, I loved it so much!

Sunday Riley Luna Oil

Sephora sent me the Sunday Riley Luna face oil to test out. Let me say that within a week, I noticed a significant difference! I have super bad under eye bags since I don’t sleep much with three children one of whom is only two. This softened up my lines around my eyes, and smoothed my undereyes. I looked like I’d gotten eight hours of sleep, not the five or so I’d really gotten. Color me impressed.

Speaking of color, I really wasn’t too sure what to think at first since it’s both blue and has a super strong scent. But wow! This is the first time in a long time I’ve seen something that’s totally worth the hype! (and the price tag!)

The blue is natural, it’s not a dye, and it hasn’t stained anything so hopefully that isn’t a deterrent for you. And I read that the strong scent is the chamomile in the product. It’s a retanoid and good for all skin types. I have pretty dry skin and I really loved it.

I put this on after I washed my face, then I let it sit for a few minutes, and followed up with my normal night cream.

My birthday was this week, so I’ll be buying the full size of this for myself. It’s definitely worth it. And trust me, I don’t splurge on stuff unless it’s totally worth it.

Bloom #VoxBox

Last month I received the Bloom Voxbox from Influenster, and it had what has become one of my favorite products inside!

My latest obsession has been face oils, and I was sent the Nuxe Huile dry oil.The fragrance is pretty heavy, but it doesn’t stay long. I do love how quickly it absorbs, so if you have oily skin, I don’t think this would be a bad product for you.

Inside was a nail polish from Sinful Colors, and while the shade I got, a beautiful glittery blue, was too sheer to be work alone, it works well over other colors.

What good would a polish be without a remover? The Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads worked well enough that one pad took off both hands, and most of one of my toes.

A travel size stick of Secret Outlast Xtend Invisible Solid was stolen by my daughter, but luckily I know it’s a good product since that’s the one I use now!

The Not Your Mother’s brand has been a surprise find for me. I bought the beach spray for my hair at Target for about $4, and it’s amazing! So finding a mini bottle of the Not Your Mother’s Plump For Joy hair thickener was a fun treat!

And speaking of treats, I think every vox box I’ve ever gotten has had a treat. This one had a Sunbelt Bakery Granola Bar, and I ate every bite!

Jingle Vox Box

What a fun little box! Influenster sent out! This was the Jingle Vox Box, and it had everything from a mini Olaf to tater tots! What a great variety!

Hallmark’s Itty Bittys are so darn cute that I bought an R2D2 for my son, and gave my Olaf to my daughter.

I have used Kiss lashes before, so getting these was fun. I wore them out on New Year’s Eve. This was the first time I used their eyelash glue separately. Both the lashes and the glue worked just fine for me. Easy to use, and no problems taking them off. I wish I’d had this brand back when I was a ballerina-I swear I had no eyelashes left after using the old crappy glue.

I used the coupon to grab some tater tots for the kiddos, which are always a hit.

The nail polish was not my favorite. It’s called Pure Ice, and I didn’t like how it applied. My color was in Home Run and it was patchy and chipped easily. Although I was very happy at how well it came off. I hate when nail polish decides to stick around long after you’ve tried to remove it! For about $2 a bottle, though, it’s decent.

The NYC waterproof eyeliner was great! NYC is one of those brands that never gets enough attention. For a drugstore brand, their products are definitely on par with Cover Girl or Rimmel.

Cetaphil isn’t my moisturizer of choice, but it’s good. I have dry skin so I like how thick it feels.

And the Biscoff cookies. They were delicious. I am a huge coffee drinker, and these went really well with my afternoon coffee.

Bookish Girls Dish: Fave Mascaras

Hello Lovelys!

So last night Laura tweeted a new mascara she bought and is loving (I’ll let her share) which started a convo that lasted for over an hour…LOL Yeah, that’s how much we love our makeup! That being said, it was not long before I got the idea to write a post sharing our favorite mascaras. So, without further ado…here are the Bookish Girls’ Fave Mascaras!

Lori’s Fave Mascaras:

Confession: I wasn’t blessed with gorgeous long curly lashes. So as any savvy girl I have to improvise with some good mascara! It’s been a long search to find “the perfect” mascara, but a few years ago I discovered Benefit’s BADgal Lash Mascara at Sephora and I found a winner! There’s nothing really fancy about the packaging or the mascara itself, but it turned my baby fine lashes into a set of sexy full lashes that looked like a pair of falsies (which I’ve been known to wear on special occassions..haha), if that’s not a win I don’t know what is!

Too Faced “Better than False Lashes” Lash Extension System and Benefit “They’re Real” Mascara

Review: Garnier Clearly Brighter

Clearly Brighter Brightening & Smoothing Daily Moisturizer SPF 15
Designed with our Antioxidant Complex of Vitamin C & E, Pine Bark Essence, and gentle exfoliating Lipo-Hydroxyl Acid (LHA), this fast absorbing, non-greasy formula turns dull, rough skin into smooth, polished-looking skin with a more radiant, even tone.
I received a sample of this through Allure Magazine’s Beauty Enthusiasts, and I was thrilled. I’ve been looking for a new facial moisturizer. I actually have used a similar Garnier product before, but it was discontinued. I thought at first this was just a rebranded and repackaged version of the same face lotion, but it’s different. And different in a good way!
It’s a lighter moisturizer, not as thick as the discontinued one I used.
I will say that 1 week isn’t enough time to see a difference on the claims of brightening my skin, but as far as a drugstore moisturizer goes, this one feels fantastic on my face. I’m very fair, and I spent way too much time in the sun as a kid, so I’ll continue to use this lotion to see if my sun spots lighten up. I will absolutely be purchasing this face lotion for my normal daily routine.

Shiseido Ultimune Eye

I was sent a sample of the Shiseido Ultimune Eye, a  Power Infusing Eye Concentrate by Allure. (I think I got it as a thank you for taking a survey).

I’ve been using it for about a month, and I do use it both morning and night. I love the feel of it. Most eye creams either sit on my skin so I can’t put makeup on over them, or they are too thick to go on under my concealer and shadow. In fact I usually only wear eye cream at night for that reason.

But I liked this. It felt nice under my makeup, no conflicting products, or sticky feel. It didn’t cause my concealer to crease, and it didn’t sink in so quickly I felt like I hadn’t put anything on.

It does have a strong scent, but it doesn’t linger. I have incredibly sensitive and dry skin, and I had no problems with this product. I’ll be purchasing the full-size next time I go to Sephora.
