March Empties

Standard

I like doing empties posts, so here’s the one for March. There are a lot of things, so I won’t describe every single thing (unless you want me to! Let me know in the comments). I’ll hit anything I feel strongly about.

I tend to forget to keep face mask packets, but I usually do a couple a week. I love sheet masks. I grabbed a few from Bath & Body Works and they were OK. Nothing to write home about. The pineapple one was from Target and I couldn’t get it to stay on my face. It just didn’t stay put. That was really annoying, and I won’t buy it again (I bought 3 and all did that).

The L’Oreal blush is one of the True Match blushes in Precious Peach. It’s one of the most flattering blushes I’ve ever used, and I’ve been through 2. I will absolutely buy it again.

Lush salted Coconut scrub is one of the few things my husband uses, and he loves it. I love it too. Every season change, my skin goes from normal, to so dry it cracks and bleeds even with lotion on. It sucks. This scrub helps get rid of the rough and dead skin and leaves my hands so so soft.

I used up another L’Oreal Lash Paradise, it’s my third, I believe. I love how my lashes look. The ONLY problem I have with it is that it dries out after about 5 weeks. This sucks. BUT it’s so good that I don’t even care. I buy it with a coupon at Target and it’s maybe $6.

Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach lip gloss is my ride or die. Seriously. I’ve bought 4 so far since last year.

Pacifica Rollerball perfume in Island Vanilla. I’ve gone through 3 of these, maybe more in the past couple years. I love the lotion as well, and I wear them a lot during the summer.

Boots Botanics tinted lip balm is okay. Feels nice on the lips.

The Alba Hawaiian deep conditioning hair mask is amazing and smells delicious. My daughters are swimmers, and being in the pool 4 days a week kills their hair, and they use thins every swim day. Their hair is so soft!

I cut open the Mor lotion in Rosa Noir so I could get every last bit. I love that brand so much, but their Candied Vanilla is the absolute best! I wish it was cheaper. I can’t spend $36 on a lotion, no matter how lovely it is.

The Pixi primer is nice, it’s shimmery though, FYI in case that isn’t your thing. I like how moisturizing it feels.

The Pacifica Sea Foam face wash reminds me of the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea one. I like it, and it’s gentle and that huge tube lasts forever. I like it just fine, but I’m trying something else this month. I’ll keep you posted.

And that’s it, guys. Let me know if you preferred that I mentioned every product, or if you don’t mind the highlights version.

February Empties

Standard

I liked the last “Empties” post so much, that I saved everything from February so we can do it again!

I have dry skin, so you’ll see a couple of lotions, Bath & Body Works and the Coach lotion that came with my perfume. I will absolutely repurchase the Bath & Body lotion, but that Coach one was pretty light and didn’t do much for me.

There’s a meteorite scrub I got in my Ipsy bagĀ

A Shea Moisture mud mask that I really liked, but I think I prefer the sensitive skin one.

There’s an Eos lip balm (My family goes through so many of those it’s ridiculous)

My favorite face moisturizer Pacifica Dreamy Youth. I probably go through one of those every couple of months, so you’ll see this one pop up often.

My Real Techniques sponge which I’ve already replaced because I love it.

A Boots No. 7 serum that I liked, but it didn’t work with my moisturizer.

A Too Faced lip gloss I got as a freebie forever ago. I didn’t care for it. It was sticky and didn’t last very long.

The next lip gloss is an amazing find. It’s a Revlon lip gloss in Super Natural that’s a fantastic dupe for Urban Decay’s Nooner.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye that I like when I go full coverage.

The Juara plum and avocado mask is pretty nice. It’s an overnight mask, and I love the extra moisture.

There’s a Lisa Frank lip balm that was actually my toddler’s but somehow ended up in my photo LOL

The tiny little eyebrow pencil is an Anastasia Beverly Hills pencil and it’s a fantastic product, but that’s the teeniest tiniest little sample I’ve ever received of anything.

Benefit’s Roller Lash which I like, and I’ve bought a few times, but while it gives me plenty of length and curl, I really love a good thickening mascara, and this doesn’t do that.

Some floss, because we all should floss. It’s an expanding floss I got at the dentist.

And last but not least, an Elizabeth Mott eyeshadow called Pop Goes the Shadow in Champagne. This is a brand I love. I have a beautiful blush in peachy-pink, and my favorite bronzer Whatup Beaches. The quality of the products is great and consistent. I never see anyone talk about this brand, though. I think it deserves better.

Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream

Standard

If you’d like to join Influenster, click here

In my search for a new favorite night cream, I’ve come across so many. But I haven’t LOVED any of them. I know, I know, you guys say, “But you love Pacifica so much, why not use theirs?” Well, they don’t have one, not really. They have day/night creams, but I have such dry skin that I prefer a much thicker and heavier moisturizer at night. I use one of the Pacifica overnight masks as my night cream for the moment. Or at least, I did…

I was sent a full-size jar of Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream through Influenster, and I was pretty shocked. This brand is billed as “celebrity skin care.” Celebrity? I’m thinking something along the lines of Charlotte Tilbury and her Magic Cream. Well, I like this better (don’t tell Charlotte! LOL)

This is a brand Marilyn Monroe used to use, but back then you had to be seen in person in his New York store/office and Erno Laszlo became the dermatologist of the stars. Well, if it’s good enough for Marilyn, ammirite?

My skin loves this. A lot.

My husband does not…at $115, it’s pricey guys. I’ve been using it for a month, and I feel like I’m not even a quarter of the way through. If I can make it last maybe 4 months (it’s a pretty great size jar, and I don’t feel like I need to use a lot of it, which is amazing!), I’m hoping to convince the hubby that $115 a couple times a year isn’t that much more than spending $20-$30 a month on a drugstore night cream.

In the meantime, once a week or so I do still use my Pacifica overnight mask on top of it, so I’m not ready to let that go. Maybe I should to a full review of that for you guys too.

Luna Dupe?

Standard

I am fast becoming a huge Pacifica Beauty fangirl, and with their latest products, it’s not hard to see why.

I love face oils, and I’ve been so bummed out that Pacifica didn’t have one. And then it’s as if they heard my prayers!

This is $16, but it’s available at Target, which frequently has 5-15% off on Cartwheel, and Ulta sells Pacifica Beauty which is often buy one get one 50% off. The price point is awesome.

But is it a dupe for Sunday Riley’s Luna?

It’s not an exact dupe. But it’s close. Probably the only “drugstore dupe” that I’ve found. I think Herbavore’s Lapis Facial oil was the closest I’d found up until now, and that’s $72, which yes, is cheaper than Luna’s hefty $105 price tag, but still pretty expensive. Pacifica’s Super Flower Rapid Response Oil is the first drugstore version I’ve ever seen.

I like the way it feels on, I like that for the under $20 price point, I don’t feel as if I need to hoard every single drop like I did with Luna, and I don’t mind adding a bit extra to my neck, lips, and decolletage. I dropped and broke my Luna (tears, all the tears), and this bottle is plastic instead of glass, so I’m probably one of the few who prefers that.

So, the quick version is that this is as close a dupe to Sunday Riley’s Luna Sleeping Night Oil as I’ve ever seen. If you have any other dupes for this, feel free to share in the comments.

My New Skin Care Routine

Standard

I’ve fought dry skin all my life, and while I never had acne, I did get eczema and random reddish patches.

I’ve spent the past few years working on my skin care regime, and with help from the other Bookish Beauties here, I’ve discovered a few really cool products.

Face Oil. Holy cow, why did I never use you in my twenties?! Nourish Organics Argan Face Serum is my current fave, but if you prefer a dry oil, the Nuxe brand has a fantastic one.

Masks. Sheet masks, peels, overnight masks, so many masks, and so much fun! Pictured is my Pacifica overnight mask. It’s thick without being sticky or clogging my pores. I used it on a long flight and my skin never felt gross or dehydrated.

In my quest to dupe Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream, I’ve discovered a few really neat products:

Pixi Day Dew Glowtion not a dupe for Magic Cream, but absolutely a dupe for MAC Strobing Lotion, and Tarte Brighter Days Highlighting lotion.

Pixi Primer which is extra sparkly, just FYI, but adds a fun shimmer underneath bb cream or foundation.

Pacifica Dreamy Youth Day and Night Face Cream. I bought this in travel size for a trip and have never looked back!

Boots No. 7 Botanics Night Cream (which I’d actually consider more of a dupe for Clark Botanicals).

Boots Botanics Toner feels so refreshing. I hate Clinique’s toners, so I figured that mean I just hated toner. I was so wrong.

elf setting spray which smells like cucumbers, holds your makeup and feels really nice on.

Acure clay mask smells amazing! It’s like aromatherapy while you mask! And the best part? It doesn’t get hard on your face! I hate dry clay masks. This reminds me a lot of Charlotte Tilbury’s Goddess Clay mask. It isn’t the same color or texture, but they feel similar on, and the results are also very similar.

I’m looking for a new BB Cream, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to comment and let me know!
